Gary Brown named VFW Michigan Member of the Year

Past Department Commander Ray Lopez presented Gary Brown with the VFW Department of Michigan Member of the Year Award at the organization's annual State Convention Saturday, June 1, 2024.
 
Brown, a member of VFW Post 2406 in Charlotte, Michigan, was recognized for his outstanding service for veterans and their families throughout the State, and his dedication to serving within VFW Michigan. 
 
In 2023, Brown earned All-American Honors for VFW Post 2406 while serving as Post Commander. He also is the Past District 8 Commander. Further, Brown is a Master Bee Keeper who volunteers with the Heroes to Hives Program, which promotes bee keeping as a means of veteran rehabilitation and recovery through holistic means. In the program, travels throughout the Midwest and conducts regular classes out of Post 2406.
 
Along with his leadership roles as an active member, he has been a consistent membership recruiter for the organization, and works to connect veterans to their earned benefits and spreads crucial resources to support them and their families.
 
Brown's recognition comes as a direct result to his dedication to service in and outside the uniform to the veteran and family community.
